A Shift in Calling

My path to leadership wasn’t one I initially imagined. As a child, I felt called to become a pastor, drawn to serving others through faith. But in college, that call evolved. I studied psychology and realized I was meant to walk alongside people in need, helping them navigate challenges and regain hope.

Leading Systems, Not Just Individuals

That desire to serve eventually widened. I realized I was called not only to support individuals, but also to shape the systems responsible for their well-being. I pursued a Master’s in Public Health and completed a practicum with a large Catholic health system. Working alongside the senior vice president of mission integration, I saw firsthand the impact of faith-informed, values-driven leadership.

From the Front Lines to the Classroom

That experience led me into senior living, where I became a licensed nursing home administrator and later the CEO of a large non-profit continuing care retirement community. My focus was on culture change, transforming institutional models into cultures that honor autonomy, dignity, and personhood.

Later, I earned a Doctorate in Health Administration and transitioned to academia, where I now teach and mentor the next generation of leaders. My work today spans the classroom, boardroom, and the written page.

What I’m Working On Now

I’m currently writing three books in a series:

  • The Next Healthcare Leader, a career guide for students and early-career healthcare professionals

  • The Christian Healthcare Leader, exploring the integration of faith and leadership in care-driven environments

  • The Good Leader, offering timeless lessons in integrity, courage, and character for leaders across every field

Each draws from my experience in executive leadership, higher education, and values-based transformation.

Why I Do This Work

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: leadership is a calling. It takes more than technical expertise. It calls for purpose, compassion, and moral clarity. Through teaching, writing, and coaching, I aim to equip leaders to lead with vision and serve with heart—no matter where they’re called to lead.
